Hollham — Prince of Scotland Painting himself with lipstick and wearing a muskrat hat, Hallham tries to come to terms with reality. His mother died suddenly and incomprehensibly, and his father, not long grieving, found her a replacement. Hallham is lost, resented, and takes solace in spying on people in his treehouse. The world does not give answers to questions, and spying becomes a kind of way to learn something, but not to interfere directly.
But the walls of the small kingdom suddenly begin to narrow and Hallham is unfairly and vilely thrown out of the ancestral Elsinore nest. And the chick flew.
And it turns out that if you can spy, climb roofs and open any doors, you can survive without money and acquaintances in this world. Accidentally meeting a woman on the street, like two drops of water, similar to his mother, Hallham rushes after her. Next, the story bizarrely develops against the background of the cold landscapes of Edinburgh, its sharp roofs, windows, buildings, city clocks, in which Hallham hid and freely indulged in his favorite hobby of peeping.
This story is about finding yourself and how some feelings are replaced by others. Hallham had difficult feelings for Kate and it is unclear who he saw in her and what he really wanted. Whether he hated his stepmother Verity or just no one else to take the pain of losing his mother. And this story unfolds both sadly and ironically at the same time. Its finale is surprisingly harmonious and holistic. The mere fact that Hallham came to Kate through the usual front door, and not in any other way, suggests thoughts of future mental recovery. The film did not become a tearful melodrama, slurred drama or pseudo-detective. Just a story of growing up and learning yourself, your complex and mixed feelings, when it seems that you are alone in the whole world, in which you must manage not to hate it for its imperfection and contradictions, but to find yourself in it, climbing higher to those windows in which the light always burns.
Special thanks to the creators for a holistic and rich soundtrack.
