A very emotionally charged film. The screenwriter was lucky to see the opportunity to cut a compact but powerful plot into the fabric of life, the director and actors worked perfectly, the music was perfectly found, bright details were picked up - the film was successful. The crowded streets of summer Odessa were successfully used as interiors. He played Evstignes powerfully. A whole series of chicly shot episodes, for example, with waiting Caucasians snacking (Georgians, it seems).
The outstanding work of Lyudmila Gurchenko, a stunningly female image created by her. The film deserves reference to the masterpieces of not only Soviet but also world cinema.
It is difficult to imagine why the genre of the film may seem like a comedy, the heroine seems to be nauseous almost throughout its entire length, and the characters around it are also not fun - it is not clear where to laugh. Gurchenko is completely absorbed in her grief, but – basic instincts are even stronger – along with the confident skills of the late Soviet housewife, she squeezed into a spontaneously constructed line of random passers-by for flowery imported “made in Japan” basins, not so much as extremely necessary for her: a caustic characteristic illustration of the time.
