I started watching this film out of a desire to understand which scriptwriter from Ishiguro Kazuo; plus the actors here as a selection of the film. But in the end, the film disappointed: yes, the psychological portrait of the hero Hopkins certainly succeeded, but the character Thompson revealed much worse. It is not clear what Lord Darlington is - some completely incomprehensible image (what is his nobility, from which it follows that he himself is an example of honor?). The simplest storyline is stretched unimaginably, the camera work is imperceptible, in general, barely looked to the end. Perhaps it was worth reading Kazuo’s novel first, but without knowing the source, the film is clearly not self-sufficient.
