Silence of pictures I completely disagree with my friends who say that the title does not reflect the essence of the film. Just Stendhal's syndrome - an extremely deep immersion in a work of art with the loss of one's own personality for a while - is perceived by many too academically. They say that a sick person cannot pass by the picture so as not to stop with a frozen look, and then faint. There is such an understanding in the film. But at the same time, the stated idea is much broader: why it is impossible to “enter” in the same way, to get used to the life of another person – to think like him, to act like him. But, of course, very unlucky if the latter turns out to be a maniac-killer.
I confess, I only got acquainted with the work of Dario Argento and his daughter for the first time. But I can give my first impressions of this acquaintance. First of all, Argento is an amazing master of suspense! The film is not inferior to the paintings of Hitchcock and the trilogy (with a claim to tetralogy) about Hannibal Lector. Of course, the pure whipping of fear Dario can not do yet - there will be rivers of blood, and a finger planted in the eye, and a slow slide of the blade along the cheekbone of the main character. Br-r-r, I remember. At the same time, the picture sometimes turns into a surreal picture - not without reason Argento is considered one of the masters of the horror genre. From the very beginning, it seemed to me that this was nonsense, the dream of Anna, the main character. All these through holes through the cheeks, which looks like the eye of the killer, sliding pills down the esophagus, sliding the colors of the picture down and opening a door to Anna's past. However, the real "sur" begins later, when Anna begins to enter the "skin" of the maniac.
Small details that gradually turn into one big finale - Anna with pleasure cuts her hands and looks with admiration at the blood, draws gloomy pictures, smears her body with black paint and so falls asleep, tries to have a manly fun with her friend.
