American director Lawrence Kasdan's film French Kiss (1995). This is a melodramatic comedy with some elements of crime, which takes place mainly in France, the film does not pretend to be realistic, it usually looks somewhat different.
First we see a young couple, a young man Charlie (Timothy Hutton) is going to go to a conference in France and persuades his girlfriend Kate (Meg Ryan) to go with him, because this is a great opportunity to see Paris, but Kate has never flown on planes, panicked about flying and categorically refuses. Charlie calls her every day and tells her he won’t come back because he met a beautiful girl and fell in love. Kate is struck to the core, immediately buys a ticket and boards the plane, despite the fact that she is in the process of obtaining Canadian citizenship (her fiancé is a Canadian) and she is not advised to go anywhere. On the plane next to her is a somewhat rude Frenchman Luke (Kevin Cline), who slightly drinks her stolen alcohol, so she falls asleep and flies to Paris. And then all this fun begins - in the hotel, where she came to see her fiancé, she is not allowed beyond the lobby, there is a Frenchman Bob (François Cluse) attached to her, at the moment when she finally sees her fiancé kissing another girl, she faints, wakes up, sees Luke in front of her and finds that all her belongings are stolen. Luke was not so easy to find her, he put a necklace in her purse, being sure that he would certainly be searched at the airport, however, a familiar police inspector (Jean Reno) saves him from a search, who, however, does not trust him very much, but still treats him even with some sympathy, because once Luke saved his life. And then we see all these vicissitudes and we expect, of course, a good end.
The film turned out to be quite good, shot according to the laws of the genre, the actors are successfully selected and play well, especially Meg Ryan, she is well suited for such roles, so that quite dispelled.
