I started watching, of course, because of Alan Arkin and Michael Douglas. The main characters are two old, including by age, friends, one of them Norman Newlander (Alan Arkin) is a rather successful and wealthy Hollywood producer, the second is a practically failed actor Sandy Kominsky (Michael Douglas) keeps a small acting studio together with his daughter Mindy (Sarah Baker), teaching young people who dream of becoming actors. This is such a rather sad comedy about old people, filmed also not very young Chuck Lorrie, known for many Hollywood sitcoms (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, etc.), there are many deaths, at the beginning of the third season, Norman is buried, so Sandy remains alone, but with errands from Norman, which he strictly follows. Unfortunately, Norman’s only daughter is a drug addict, and her son is a crazy Scientologist, only dream of getting into Norman’s big legacy, but Sandy doesn’t let them do it, Norman foresees it. For three not very long seasons, we observe the lives of the heroes and their environment, in truth, there is little fun there, although the characters try to joke about themselves and others, sometimes getting into rather stupid situations, and sometimes all this is interrupted by another illness or death. But the end is life-affirming - again, on the recommendation of Norman's deceased friend Barry Levinson, Sandy stars in the new film adaptation of "The Old Man and the Sea" and he receives a Grammy for this role, as well as one of his students for his role in the series with Morgan Freeman. So, despite everything, life goes on. I can’t say that I’m excited about this series, but you can see, although, of course, it’s sad to watch how old the actors, whom I personally remember young, have become, but life is life, and the actors are very good.
