I saw that the adaptations of the Belgian series “Professor T.” / Professor T. (2015-2018) are multiplying, I decided to see the original, I usually always look for the original, assuming that it is in it that there is something that attracted numerous followers.
So, the federal police in the person of Chief Inspector Annelies Donkers (Ella Leyers) decides to bring to the next confusing investigation its former teacher - Professor of criminology from the University of Antwerp Jasper Tirlink (Cohen De Bow). He is distinguished by the ability to solve crimes, looking not for the beaten, but for the hidden paths of human thoughts and actions. But there is some complexity - despite his brilliant mind, the professor is distinguished by significant oddities in his own behavior, is extremely eccentric, expresses his thoughts almost always unambiguously, without especially caring about the fact that it may offend someone. The reason is that he suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, the roots of which lie in the severe mental trauma he received as a child - his father, who was also a brilliant scientist, suffered from alcoholism and constantly threw up his arms, beating both his son and his wife in a drunken state. One day, accidentally coming from school, Jasper saw that his father hanged himself, you can imagine what the boy experienced, who, despite the ugly behavior of his father, loved him, because he played with him soberly and instilled in the boy a love for classical music, which the professor continues to listen to, and on vinyl discs.
Being involved in investigations in the future as a freelance consultant to the police, the professor provides invaluable assistance in solving many crimes. However, everything is quite complicated, solving the crimes, he increasingly wonders about the death of his father and comes to the conclusion that it was a murder. In the end, he reveals him, but this is the first time he hasn't told the police who the killer was.
The series was shot well for this kind of production, the actor for the lead role was well chosen - this is a colorful Cohen de Bow, whom I had never seen before, which is understandable, given his filmography, he starred mainly in Belgian TV series and films, which I watched very little. The rest of the actors are also not bad, although I was somewhat surprised by the expansiveness of some characters, I didn’t think they were such Belgians. The authors sometimes tried to introduce some fantasy and grotesque into the narrative - this is the vision of the professor, sometimes in the form of musical inserts, there are other rather strange characters. I have, of course, and claims to the creators, but it is necessary to make a discount on the fact that the series, apparently, and did not pretend to be an outstanding work of cinema. If someone is interested in genre, you can see it.
