Watch out, spoilers! ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------- I watched two seasons of the Israeli police series “Manayek” (it seems that this is an Arabic rude insult that is used in relation to corrupt policemen, the series is called “Rats” on the film search), 2020, the creator of Roi Iddan, director Alon Zingman, whom I have already appreciated on the excellent series about orthodox “Shtisel”. The police are three longtime friends - Izzy Bachar (Shalom Assiag), Dudu Aini (Sashi Samucha) and Barak Harel (Amos Tamam). Izzy works in the Department of Internal Investigations, he is not quite a familiar policeman, who seems somewhat strange compared to everyone else, since he stands out for his unusual honesty, so his career can hardly be called successful, this unit is quite hostile to the police itself, because it exposes crime in police circles. On his background, the other two friends made a notable career. And suddenly Izzy gets a strong blow directly, as they say, to the very heart - it turns out that his friend Barack has long and closely cooperated with criminal clans, moreover, several murders are on his conscience. At first, Izzy does not want to believe it and agrees to work on the case to help Barack, who once helped him in a difficult moment. However, with the development of the case acquires such details that the question of help simply can not go, the degree of mutual ties of employees of different units is clarified and there is a tangle of such acts and crimes that Izzy fit to fall into despair, but he does not give up, which cannot be said about the other participants in the events. Of course, he is not perfect himself, but at least he did not commit crimes and his conscience is still preserved. In the end, such a well-conceived operation to expose falls apart due to the fact that it involves people who are more expensive to expose, and also because of the not quite deliberate actions of the employees conducting the investigation, sometimes they are guided and luminous benefits. Izzy resigns, but in the second season he is again involved in the next investigations and the end of the second season clearly indicates that the series will continue. The series was shot well, the actors were selected very successfully and played their roles well. It was a little surprising to learn that playing the role of Izzy Shalom Assiag used to be a famous stand-up, which does not usually involve great acting talent, but this role does not touch his usual role. Good in the role of Barack Amos Tamam - he is such a charismatic cunning man with a criminal gut. So fans of the genre can safely recommend this series.
