Watched two seasons of the very popular online detective-comedy series “Only Murders in the Building” (2021-...), which is praised by many viewers. Maybe my sense of humor has gotten worse lately, but I watched it without any enthusiasm, but I did. The case takes place in an apartment building in New York, in which, despite the fact that seemingly tenants are considered decent people, murders occur. And here, as it often happens nowadays, there are people who make a podcast on this topic, in which they investigate these murders (with some police involvement, oddly enough). It is an accidental trio consisting of two rather elderly people - former director Oliver Patnam (Martin Short), former and once popular actor Charles Savage (Dean Martin) and young artist Mabel More (Selena Gomez). As a background and situational participants, we see the residents of this house, among whom there are many rather strange personalities, there are some from the outside, also no less strange. In the series, the investigation is conducted at the usual amateur level for this kind of film, and the police are present as rather weak participants, only to arrest, because the killers are found by the members of the trinity. Perhaps some people like such films, but I did not think it was made at a very high level, although the actors are busy and not bad. As entertainment, of course, will do. However, it was renewed for a third season.
For those who like easy, empty and confusing stories with a criminal sensuality and naive characters. This is a comedy, and a drama, and a detective, and more that: funny and not boring.
