I watched the Italian mini-series La legge di Lidia Poët, 2023. As they write in one Italian edition – a film about Lydia Poet, where there is very little Lydia Poet, and I agree with this, everything is pulled to modern realities, including the behavior of the heroine. I was slightly alarmed by the poster of this film, which somehow did not fit with the proclaimed theme of the series, which was supposed to be dedicated to the fate of the first female lawyer in Italy, Lydia Poet. But when I began to watch, I understood what it was about, to call this series relevant to real events, people who watched, especially those who are somewhat more familiar with realities, would not turn the language. The case takes place at the end of the 19th century, but the heroine and some characters behave as if events were happening now, starting with a frank sex scene, where the heroine is immediately put in the role of a lover of the leading role. Italians still pay attention to the vocabulary of the heroine, which does not correspond to the time and her social origin and position, in translation I could not notice, perhaps the translator softened this nuance (watched with subtitles). Well, and then it turns out that the characters there are often invented - both Lydia herself and her brother-lawyer have never entered into a marital relationship, except for them, there were other brothers and sisters in the family, but they are not mentioned here, and the brother has a wife and an adult daughter. In general, very free handling of biographies of real characters. Therefore, I am always in favor of using not real names, but invented ones, so it would be more ethical. If you do not attach importance to this, then you can see such an ordinary detective-procedural series, shot as if in the style of retro.
