Pulp Fiction vs. School Charter I suddenly liked the movie. The fact that it is based on the memoirs of Novelyn Price explains both the melodrama and the attempt to present a female, emotionally based view of Howard’s life story. However, the image of the Master’s personality appears – free, not taking into account the conventions of society, alter ego of Conan the barbarian of the early XXth century, too narrow for him.
The film is useful for its biography - it mentions the friendship with Lovecraft, and Howard's literary education, and his attachment to his mother. Price wanted to make it tame. But the schoolteacher’s pedagogical talent was not enough to pacify Howard, she was too petty spiritually to understand him, and this is clearly revealed in the film. Howard became the only significant event in her life, and she can only regret her blindness, remembering it at every sunset, this is just a masterpiece of the Director.
