The case is taken up by Commissioner Grendel, who goes to the secret organization “loyalty to the police”, consisting of high-ranking police officers. They see their task in the extrajudicial execution of criminals, communists and all those who, from their point of view, do not allow France to become great.
In the police station begins a series of murders, suicides and other troubles. The division is becoming more and more evident every day. But Grendel intends to bring things to the end, whatever it costs him.
Delon, as usual, played a man without fear or reproach. At the same time, it is known that in life the actor adheres to ultra-right views and the idea of extrajudicial reprisals against the outcasts of society should quite appeal to him. The film makes sense to watch primarily for the atmosphere of the Commissioner’s trap and his attempts to get out of the situation with the least losses.
I think the film is one of the best representatives of the French noir of the 80s.
