So much noise, a man in there is no fire. Another adaptation of Stephen King. For me, this is the most fearless and “non-King” atmosphere. I chose a short story and it inspired me. But Mikael Hafström decided to film this story in a different style, in the end, almost nothing remained of the book.
The script does not shine with any special horror. The whole movie is simply shown monsters first and then removed to show that it is a ghost. But it seems to me that the modern viewer is not so simple as to be frightened by every badly made monster. The end of the stay in the hotel "Dolphin" turned out to be a fake.
They made the film perfectly, only in my opinion they used such special effects, somehow out of place.
I liked the actors. John Cusack looked good on the screen. Samuel L. Jackson appears for 15 minutes, but coped with his role. He is probably the best actor in the film.
Bottom line: a scary movie, if only because the hero easily turned away from the terrible number with the numbers 1408. I do not believe that so many people died in it (according to legend), just do not believe.
4 out of 10.
