To my taste, a wonderful adaptation of a wonderful book. The film, like the story itself, made a strong impression on me. The same feelings, the same treacherous goosebumps, the same timid attempts to look inside oneself after accusatory monologues, the same burning tears of shame and the desire to raise eyes to the mountain in silent prayer.
But that's just my personal perception. I am sure that everyone will see here something of his own, something that is currently tormenting and gnawing, for the author considers the hidden, dark, secret side of the human person.
Very soulful, very intimate, very thoughtful movie. It strips away the veils of vanity even from the apostles, washing away the Pharisaic grins from pious faces. Exploring, baring, prickly ... It reminds us all that the ways of the Lord are inscrutable, that all accidents are not accidental, that everything that happens is not accidental, that every sheep will be hung by its tail and that what you see in me is not mine, but yours.
Nothing superfluous. It's all personal.
And absolutely brilliant Alexei Shevchenkov.
