As it is clear at once, Hellfjord is a parody of detective stories about lost quiet towns, in which, as in a quiet pool, devils are found and terrible things are happening. There are strange characters here too - they are real, very strange! There is its own mafia - and where to turn its grandiose scams, if not in a God-forgotten town. Well, of course, there is enough mysticism.
The series is hilariously funny. True, I must say, humor is black and very specific - squeamish viewers "Hellfjord" is contraindicated. In the presence of strong nerves and stomach, you can sincerely laugh at the cliches of mystical series, starting with the cult
"Twin Peaks".
The actors are good. Zayed Ali played a great Pakistani cop. Stig Frode Henriksen in the image of Koba ... monstrous, as intended - such a nasty old man to invent was probably difficult. Maria Bock, however, does not lag behind - in her 30s she managed to portray an unusually squeamish old woman. Finnish actress Pihla Viitala played the Finnish wife Koba – a beauty, athlete and the perfect hostess, which this mad grandfather is constantly dissatisfied with. The rest are not behind.
The plot rolls through all the common places of the modern detective - from undercover work to significant mystical visions of the protagonist. And all this with great cynicism and a paradoxical sense of humor. The Norwegians seem to know as much about the absurd as the English.
It remains only to regret that apparently, the series will not get a sequel - for four years nothing has been heard about it.
The bottom line: a great parody absurdist miniseries. For a viewer with a strong stomach and a love of black humor - a great choice. 9 out of 10 Original
