Passion for cheese When a puppet cartoon appears in the age of computer animation, it undoubtedly attracts attention. Such technology requires a lot of effort from the creators, and when you watch such a cartoon, you willy-nilly expect from it not only a well-developed visual, but also an equally well-developed plot. With the visual of this cartoon everything is just fine – original, interesting, colorful, with many small details and a magnificent atmosphere. But this cannot be said about the plot.
The beginning of the film is intriguing - a little boy, kidnapped and raised by trolls, whom an evil fat man in a red hat is going to destroy. However, the further the plot develops, the more it slides to the level of ordinary children's cartoons, which pour tons of TV. All plot moves are predictable, the behavior of the characters and x phrases too. Despite the original fictional world, all the events that happen to the characters are terribly banal. The "bad" characters end up being good. The main villain in the spirit of superhero series builds his “genius villainous plan to take over the world”, which, of course, will fail in the end in the most ridiculous way. Families will be reunited and everyone will live happily ever after. Such a story can be forgiven for an animated series. But from the cartoon, coming out in wide rental, having such an interesting idea and so carefully designed in terms of dolls and scenery, you expect something much more.
Another problem of the cartoon is the characters. They're all disgusting. Of course, they are visually very well worked out, up to embroidery on clothes and hairs on a beard, but at the same time there is something nasty in them. The curved protruding teeth under brightly anointed lips, the fat body on thin legs ... The girlfriend of the main character, who is presented as an unhappy beautiful princess for whom he left his cave, turns out to be a blonde capricious girl along the way. Her father looked like a great villain of the second plan, a kind of freak, because of the idleness of which the city is gradually destroyed, if he did not suddenly improve at the end. And the bad thing here is not the transformation itself, but its suddenness and groundlessness. Then he didn’t care about his daughter and didn’t want to think about anything but cheese, and in the next scene, his love for her woke up and he didn’t need cheese. By the way, the excessive love of the inhabitants of this town for cheese looks a little ... strange.
The visual part of the cartoon above all called. Dolls and decorations are worked out to the smallest detail. Nice music and colorful appearance create a magnificent atmosphere. Humor in some places is quite pleasant, in some places disgusting. For example, the mad father of the main character, who in the end is called upon to dilute the pathos of what is happening, instead adds a taste of some primitive kindergarten humor. But it's all small things. They could destroy the impression of the painting if they were poorly made. However, they can not save her - too shaky the basis in the form of a plot and characters.
Despite the originality of its appearance, according to the plot, this is an ordinary children's cartoon, and nothing more should be expected from it.
