Love Story A love story — reads the subtitle on the poster of the film by Derek Kyanfrancs. The Blue Valentine is a true love story. Despite the painful feeling that leave devoid of any eroticism, the bed scenes of the spouses Cindy and Dean, punctuated by their cruel quarrels. But if He, an ordinary loader, shares his thoughts of love with a colleague at first sight, and She trusts a simple guy after a conversation on the bus, what if not a love story? Perhaps this story is just more complete – it has not only a typical chapter of “Before the wedding”, but also the chapter “After” burned by most writers.
Is that typical of this second chapter, separated from the first by the simple phrase “It’s been six years”? The thoughtfulness of the details and the convincing play of Gosling and Williams lead one to believe that there are many such stories. Six years can thoroughly spoil any house, if the inside does not clean and do not repair anything, but only paint the fence.
Approximately such a picture of destruction is discovered by Cindy and Dean, secluded in a motel in a room with the eloquent name “Room of the Future”. There, they are not only deprived of the “fence” in the form of communication with their daughter and parents, but also the usual home environment. Room of the Future with the interior of the cabin of the spacecraft, a rotating bed and a glass shower perfectly demonstrates the alienation and confusion of Cindy and Dean in front of each other. Kianfrancs clearly showed this fateful point of transition.
Gosling and Williams, in my opinion, played some of their best roles in this film. I think it was hard for Michelle to get used to such a frank image of a melancholy-disoriented girl.
The main question - why at one moment so close - at the other both were very far from each other - is left to the viewer to answer. At the end of family life, Cindy feels confident in her work as a nurse, and Dean believes that she found herself in the role of a caring husband and father. At the same time, their best memories gradually dissolve in the night sky along with the fireworks of joy of someone’s love story.
