Hologram for the King, directed by Tom Tykwer, 2016, starring Tom Hanks. A not-so-successful sales agent at an IT firm heads to Saudi Arabia to sell a conference development where communication takes place using a holographic image. Despite the fact that this project fails, as always, ahead of the Chinese with lower prices, the hero finds himself not only a job in this not very safe for a non-Muslim country, but also a late love, happy ending. The film, in truth, despite the fact that I watched it without much effort, almost did not make any impression, I watched it for purely cognitive purposes. It was shot well, the picture is beautiful, besides, the network got in excellent quality, dubbing is so good. On the one hand, it is a kind of comedy with slight signs of satire and melodrama, but the plot is built somehow, although the basis is a book in which, according to the testimony of readers, it is done more intelligently. And then galloping around Europe, or rather, Saudi Arabia, which is not so often made films, although, in truth, filming directly in the SA there is very little, as it turned out, and the heroine is not played by a Saudi, but by a Hindu. It seems that the film was made in a hurry. At first it seems that the satirical line will continue, but everything rolls into melodrama. In real life, melodrama, of course, is preferable to satire, but in cinema the latter would be more interesting, especially if the author had a little more faith in the audience who expected an interesting film from him, but I doubt that their expectations were met, in particular, mine is definitely not.
