I watched Roman Polansky’s film “Based on Real Events”, made by him in 2017, so I sit and think about what he showed us. At the beginning of the film, we see writer Delphine in a meeting with readers, signing them books. She is clearly tired, can’t even finish the session and leaves, refusing to sign the book to a girl with the mysterious name Elle and bright red lips. But the girl again and again appears in her life, moreover, she settles with her, in the end, events even become tragic. But in the end, everything ends quite safely, we see the meeting with the readers again, this time Dolphin looks good, it is she who now has bright red lipstick and nail polish, but then we realize that this is apparently the same meeting with which the film began, and now we see Elle again. The question is, “Was there a girl?” For some reason, I remembered Polansky’s other films – “Simple Formality” (there he is as an actor) with its unexpected end and “Ghost”, since El does exactly that – writes books for someone. I can’t say that the film made a very strong impression, but I watched it without the effort that it sometimes takes me to watch the film. Starring Emmanuel Senier and Eva Greene, as Delphine's husband Vincent Perez.
