A film about a terrible epidemic, made before Covid. It doesn't have a horror label. Most of the time, it resembles a survival thriller.
Issues of isolation, protection of one’s family, distrust and cooperation are a good source material, we could spin this part, focus on the details of the communication of survivors from different families, whom fate brought under one roof. To ask how justified the harsh measures of the white father, who gave birth to a black son even darker than his mother. It seems that this is not what he was watching in his time.
Or you could talk about the epidemic, show how it changed the world, what was done in order to confront it, but there were not even timid attempts to move the plot in this direction.
But as a result, the plot drowns in the ragged storylines, and the final twist completely puts an end to the adequate perception of the film.
It's a disappointment.
