No one can survive becoming a legend
I saw it. Impressive. Hard. After the movie ended, I just wanted to be quiet. And also read the fateful novel Salinger “The Catcher in the Rye”, as a confession of Chapman himself, who identified himself with Holden Caulfield – the main character of the book. To my shame, I have never read it. There are a lot of questions after watching. Why is Mark so impressed with Holden Caulfield? What does the fairy tale The Wizard of Oz symbolize here, and with whom does Mark Chapman compare himself and John? Why did he kill the legendary Lennon when he loved and deified him so much? And why was he found sane if he had a manic personality disorder on his face?
In general, an amazing, mysterious, tragic story. It is simply amazing how inflamed imagination the love of Lennon and the love of God are mixed, how sick consciousness has imposed a favorite book, its events and characters on reality, how much the idea of fix takes possession of a person, although he is trying to fight, tries to force himself to go home with the coveted autograph and continue to live his former life, tries to tell about his plans to others and replace the revolver in his hand with a camera, but everyone around him is shunned, and he simply has no other choice because the demon in him is stronger than the desperate cries of conscience.
The only thing that pleases me is that Mark David Champan, while serving his life sentence, still converted to Christianity and returned to the right path from the road paved with yellow brick.
I can’t help but mention the great performance of Jared Leto, I believed him from start to finish, just brilliant!
