Iron policeman Recently, Hollywood has become addicted to remakes. So "Robocop" did not pass the fate to get a new glossy version. I’m not a fan of the 1987 original, so I started watching the new Iron Policeman movie without expecting a masterpiece or failure.
The film was atmospheric and spectacular. And although these are all its advantages, they are quite weighty. Explosions, fights, robots are done perfectly. However, with the current development of computer graphics, this is not surprising. But a good atmosphere is much less common than good special effects. She's beyond praise here. And while the high-tech world of the future, with America at its head, is more suited to a film about revolution than about a guardian of the law, it is this atmosphere of dystopia that is the only reason I didn’t turn it off after the first 20 minutes.
There was a lot of reason to turn it off. And most of them are in the story.
The main disadvantage of the story is dialogue. There are so many of them, and they pass so tediously that only a quick rewind button can save them. This is especially true of family scenes. In addition, there are a lot of small shortcomings - like the moment when the main character, who received a couple of small burns from the explosion, a few minutes later turns out to be disabled without limbs. Or maybe it was all set up by a big evil corporation to get material for experiments? It remained a secret. So did the mafia who bribed a bunch of cops and blew up the main character. Why he did it, what he does, remains a mystery.
The whole first half of the film consists of dialogue with rare shootouts. So rare that they can not dispel the boredom caused by dialogue. But the second half is much better. Here, finally, there are secret conspiracies, and big robots, and spectacular fights - all that is worth watching this film for.
The actors, for the most part, played well. I especially want to highlight Gary Oldman - he is great always and everywhere. But Kinnaman disappointed me. His character is a typical American warrior with a stone face, deep emotional experiences and, of course, a patriot. He has no more emotions on his face than the robots he fights.
In general, I liked the film rather than not. There is no philosophical sense in it, but there are spectacular special effects and atmosphere, so you can see it once.
