Masao Maruyama is a Japanese director, producer, co-founder, board member and producer of Madhouse, one of the world’s leading production companies. Born on June 19, 1941 in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, he graduated from Hosei University in 1963 and became an animator at Mushi Production. It was here that he met many of Madhouse’s future employees, with whom he founded the company in 1972.
