Joanna Bruzdowicz is a Polish composer. She was born in Warsaw in 1943 on May 17 in a family with musical roots – her father, an architect, played the cello, her mother was a pianist. Yoanna was a real child prodigy - her musical abilities were clearly manifested at the age of six. She graduated from the State Higher School of Music, where she studied composition and piano, received a master’s degree in 1966, then went to Paris to continue her education thanks to a scholarship from the French government.

She was born in Warsaw in 1943 on May 17 in a family with musical roots – her father, an architect, played the cello, her mother was a pianist. Yoanna was a real child prodigy - her musical abilities were clearly manifested at the age of six.
She graduated from the State Higher School of Music, where she studied composition and piano, received a master’s degree in 1966, then went to Paris to continue her education thanks to a scholarship from the French government. Between 1967 and 1968, she studied with prominent French teachers and musicians Nadia Boulanger, Pierre Schaeffer and Olivier Messiaen. Then she defended her doctorate at the Sorbonne.
After graduating from university in Paris, she settled in Belgium with her husband, a former adviser to the president of the European Commission. The family (Joanna and her husband have three sons) moved to the south of France.
While living in Belgium, Bruzdowicz and her husband participated in the creation of the detective series Stahlkammer Zürich, which aired from 1986 to 1991, writing 15 hours of music for him. She also wrote the soundtrack for films such as “Roofless and Outlaw.”
