Marika Rekk ("The Girl of My Dreams", "This Joyful Ball Night", "Gasparone") and Fred Liver in the musical melodrama "Child of the Danube".On the waves of the blue Danube is anchored by a tow barge with a cheerful name "Marica", on it lives a blonde girl Marika (Marica Rekk) - a waitress from the local squash "Noah's Ark". The dilapidated ship belonged to her late father, and the girl cherishes a dream to save money for the restoration of the ship. One evening, on board her houseboat, she finds a stranger in her bed. An uninvited guest, George (Fred Liver), turns out to be a writer who wants to settle in these wonderful places. Marika is allowed to live on her ship for a few days. Hearing how the girl sings, seeing the cocona dances, George offers the sweet-voiced Marika to create her own open-air theater in order to restore the ship with the money received from the concerts. The success of this project begins to bear fruit, but one night during a thunderstorm from a lightning strike all the props of the theater burn. Marika is desperate. Friends rush to help the beauty, and together they create a new theater - the largest in the country. Thousands of spectators come to the premiere to hear the wonderful voice of a girl born on the waves of the Danube. Marika Rekk is an actress from whom it is impossible to take your eyes off. An exhilarating voice, beckoning glances, slightly provocative dances, risky costumes, immense coquetry, delightful legs - all this turned the head of the audience in theaters. She brought her athletic style of dance to the cinema from the stage of variety and on the set worked with the accuracy of a chronometer. Despite the fact that the peak of popularity of the actress came during the period of Nazi rule in Germany, the actress did not star in any of the fascist propaganda films. In 1977, Marika Rekk was awarded the Gold Prize of Germany for many years of work in art. During her long life, the actress starred in more than forty films. close

Sunday Night Theatre was a long-running series of televised live television plays screened by BBC Television from early 1950 until 1959.
The productions for the first five years or so of the run were re-staged live the following Thursday, partly because of technical limitations in this era, and the theatrical basis of early television drama. Some of the earliest collaborations between Rudolph Cartier and Nigel Neale were produced for this series, including Arrow to the Heart and Nineteen Eighty-Four. The Sunday night drama slot was subsequently renamed The Sunday-Night Play which ran for four seasons between 1960 and 1963. ITV transmitted its own unrelated run of Sunday Night Theatre between 1971 and 1974. close
