He's normal! Well, maybe a little nervous... Screen adaptation of the story of the cult writer, the outstanding playwright, the brilliant master of the detective - Edgar Allan Poe. Many of Poe's works were translated into the language of cinema, and some more than once. This time, it's a screen adaptation of "The Whistleblower Heart." close

The world is burning up, icecaps melt, floods drown the landscape and people starve. These images are from a Shakespearean speech that dates from the seventeenth century. Climate change today has twisted the seasons beyond recognition, and the Bard's words describing a 'mazed world' are more relevant now than ever before. 'The Seasons Alter' is a vivid short film that uses Shakespearean poetry in the mouths of a modern family to illustrate the most pressing environmental challenge of our time. close

On Top - Iceland, a lighthouse, a cold winter evening. Her thoughts drift back to that summer ... to bathing in the hot springs ... to when they first met ... and embraced. Down Under - Australia, the desert, a blistering heat wave. His pickup stops at an icehouse ... he lays the blocks neatly on the buckboard ... and drives off haunted by a aching memory. Without dialogue or comment, save for verses from a sonnet by John Keats, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson links the thoughts, the emotions, the sensual longing of young lovers at opposite ends of the world. A tone poem, a collage of sight and sound. close

Group of shocking Music-videos linked by interviews with band members of this Death Metal band with Guest appearances by a beloved TV Horror Hosts. Film works as a feature length introduction to the Underground world that influences this particular music movement and showcases moments of intense performance by the band. The videos reflect the genius of Indie Wunderkind, Jim Van Bebber whose long awaited feature CHARLIES FAMILY (AKA: THE MANSON FAMILY) is finally seeing the light of day in British theaters, soon to follow in the USA. Van Bebber's characteristic frenetic cuts, neo-primitive animation and deconstructive look at Pop Culture make this worth watching even if the music ain't your thing. close

The title of this twenty-minute video by Jean-Luc Godard and Anne-Marie Miéville, “Freedom and Fatherland,” is the official slogan of the Canton de Vaud, in Switzerland, where the filmmakers live and grew up. To fulfill their commission from a Swiss cultural festival, they adapted a great Swiss novel, “Aimé Pache, Painter from the Vaud,” by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, from 1911 (about a local artist who goes to Paris for his education and then returns home) and extruded its autobiographical analogies to Godard’s own life and work. Using a choice set of clips from Godard’s films to coincide with events from the painter’s life, verbal references to modern times and to Godard’s own—Sartre, the late nineteen-sixties, the cinema—and images of the Swiss terrain, which plays a decisive role in the work of Pache, Godard, and Miéville (an important filmmaker in her own right), they produce the effect of mirrors within mirrors. close

Graffiti removal: the act of removing tags and graffiti by painting over them. Subconscious art: a product of artistic merit that was created without conscious artistic intentions. It is no coincidence that funding for "anti-graffiti" campaigns often outweighs funding for the arts. Graffiti removal has subverted the common obstacles blocking creative expression and become one of the more intriguing and important art movements of our time. close
