Cool couple Not in need of introduction Kevin Smith and Bruce Willis go to the arenas of the genre of police comedy, presenting cinematic entertainment with rude humor, a share of action and chase, a bunch of movie quotes and with a rating of R.
Two not the most adequate cops cope perfectly with their work, despite private shortcomings and regular verbal skirmishes about and without, but once everything goes wrong, and forced to act already being temporarily suspended from service, they still try to get justice. Not the most original concept, decomposed in the general subgenre framework, is sharply diluted with powerful portions of humor on a variety of topics. Willis, as always, gives the Nut and shines with charisma, and Morgan takes the charm and slight naivety of the image. Quite a good duo, and this cool couple gets into a bunch of troubles, according to genre laws.
The movie looks easy and fun, but how successful the first half is here, you start to miss the further the action moves. A strong sagging in the middle gives too unnecessary respite, after a very dynamic and intense beginning, including the killer prologue, and the bundle itself, and some of the first drops of action, which also gradually begins to tire a little with its monotony. And the very first incredibly humorous interrogation scene turns out to be the brightest and best in the film, and what is it like to watch the rest of the timekeeping without watching anything more funny? Yes, there are jokes and there are a lot of them, rudely vulgar humor here in many places is very successful, but at the same time such jokes are so from the category of “amateur” that the film itself risks getting into the target not in the main audience, but to specific fans of the genre. And the desire to revive police comedies should pursue more ambitious goals with maximum coverage of viewers, even if specifically the adult population with R-rated.
But the beauty of the rating is almost not present. The main “adult” detail here is the language of the film, all cinemonic jokes and obscene dialogues stand out as a bright link against the background of almost over-the-top violence and in the complete absence of erotic scenes. As a result, only the theme of the mat is revealed, and from such a film you want much more, the comedy action movie turns out to be ambiguous both as a comedy and too sluggish as a militant. He is quite good, posing as an average man with a bright casting, but Willis here will yield even to Travolta from the recent “From Paris with Love”, not to mention his own most outstanding action roles, and Morgan will not compare even close to other black “partners”. Bruce, like Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Tucker and Denzel Washington, although humors the whole film from the heart.
It becomes a little hurtful that starting with such a bright dynamic drive, the film fails after half, and barely weaves to its conclusion, adding a couple more successful scenes directly in the finale. Such a movie certainly does not claim the status of a cult comedy, but you can and perhaps even need to have fun watching it. A film with Bruce Willis is always a worth watching entertaining spectacle, regardless of its outcome, whether it is a passing comedy or a one-time action movie, such a film is always worth reading. And “Double Kopec” is no exception, it is a funny adventure with its genre features, created to entertain the viewer and make them laugh. A positive film is always a good thing.
