It seems like a typical UFO movie. But not quite, and the main feature of it in the end.
I have a lot of respect for Comrade Spielberg, but something doesn’t stick with his early work, with the same recognized Jaws, and with this film too. I guess I didn’t really see him until after I saw his first movie, Indiana Jones: In Search of the Lost Ark. Like Jaws, this film is characterized by the fact that the actors here are all largely unknown. I didn’t know any of them before watching the movie. And by and large, after the film, you will not remember any of them, since there was no acting by and large, well this is not surprising, because this is a fantastic film.
To be honest, this movie was exhausting for me. Even more tedious than "Space Odyssey," although it seemed much more boring. Even as it doesn’t sound strange, another, later UFO movie, “Signs,” I liked more than this one, for the thriller component of the film, for two good male roles, for the dynamism, after all. There’s none of that in this movie, and for me, in an alien movie, those factors are often the most important. But in this movie, unlike other UFO movies, there is a big difference. Aliens. Not in the sense that they are visually different, but in the fact that they are portrayed more less equally in all films, but in the fact that they are shown to be kind. Not as in the same "Signs" or "War of the Worlds" as in the early or late. There are alien enemies everywhere, and here they are friends.
But from a visual point of view, the film is just beautiful. There are so many spaceships and none of them is like the other. It was very interesting to see the picture, especially towards the end of the film. So for entertainment just ten points.
In general, the film is very good, which lacks a little dynamism and good actors.
