The film is based on the book by Dina Rubinna and, like all her books, it gives an idea of the life of the (post)Soviet intelligentsia in difficult conditions to which they are generally not adapted.
In fact, the film is primarily about human egoism, the old-women's chalk and scandalous Freundlich's heroine, because the only thing she is interested in now is memories of the past, now she is only able to list her merits and try to get something out of successful directors for Peter. Peter is selfish, who only threatens to leave the house of Anna Borisovna, although everyone understands that he will never do this, because he has nowhere to go. All are selfish except for the heroine Alena Babenko, who is not clear by what wind swept into this insane asylum.
