Carpe diem!
It’s fascinating, somewhere in the middle of the movie, when you wake up for a minute, you realize that you’re here and not there in the intricacy of events. It is so strange to get involved in reality, but after this thought again plunge into the film.

A carelessly open door... As a result: broken lives, ruined plans, insignificance of current problems and love ... so strange, not perfect, wild, selective.

This is a story about feelings, about the value of the present moment, about mistakes, about fatal little things ... about life.

The film should push the viewer away in every possible way, but it is impossible to break away.

Should I watch it? If you're willing to analyze, I say, "Yes!"

The film consists of three parts that are intertwined in one place. In this case, it's a crossroads. At the very beginning of the film, an accident is shown, and then other parts of the film begin to turn around this unfortunate event: they show what happened before the accident, what happened after. Well, if you look at the stories separately, then the main idea of the first is that the brother raised his hand against his brother, and none of this was worthwhile. The second is that there is nothing worse than forgetting. This can be clearly seen in the last shots of the film. The third story is morally similar to the first. But still the main characters of each of the three stories appear in the other two stories.

This is the second Alejandro González Iñárritu film I have seen. The first was Babylon. Even if you compare these two films, you can see a lot of similarities. I generally sympathize with this director for his unique style, the development of the plot, or rather, his presentation. Even on the basis of these two films, we can draw conclusions. Each film has 3 stories that intertwine in one particular place. In Babylon, it was a shot, there was an accident. This director makes films far from top countries and with a small budget. Both films were made in Mexico. I would love to see more of his work.

Although, in my opinion, there are shortcomings. Here is even the same information in the film from a plot point of view is very much, and therefore the events here develop very quickly. Sometimes it seems that the end is soon, and this is only the fortieth minute of the film.

There are no star actors in the film. All local. That's a good thing. So the picture of what is happening seems more real. And it would be strange if some Hollywood actor dressed up as a Mexican and went with the same dog to fights, or broke the floor in an apartment to find a dog, or lived in a shack after getting out of prison. Agree, it would be very strange to look at it, so the cast was selected successfully.

All owners are similar to their dogs ©

The film reminds me of the Brazilian “City of God”. First of all, he reminded me of his cruelty. Or rather, a representation of a real cruel life. The film is almost absent at least some rainbow, happy moments that are inherent in Hollywood. At first it is disgusting to look at it at all, but then you begin to penetrate into the essence, what Iñárritu wanted to tell us.

It is not for nothing that the film puts such an emphasis on our smaller brothers - dogs. As one of the heroes of the film said, “All owners are like their dogs.” Ie. Iñárritu compares humans and dogs. In the film "Yes" and their pets.

It is noticeable that Iñárritu likes to make his films in one way: to confuse several stories with some common event (as can be seen from his next works – 21 grams and Babylon), and all the characters in this film have a main “problem” – love. Everyone is different.

Something to say doesn't make sense. In such films, everyone understands something for himself.

But I admit that this is the best work of this director from his paintings I have seen.
