The film in a characteristic American manner: a long garland of short fragments illustrating not distinguished by eloquence comments of the main character with such a level of intelligence, outwardly everything is unassuming, and do not make such a masterpiece, but the film firmly falls into the soul and is not forgotten. His “trick” – the intersection of the main character with a mass of iconic for the United States of the 20th century (with a huge sometimes influence on them) personalities and events, everything is permeated with subtle self-irony over anything remarkable American, you can feel the specifics of local life. There is a brilliant acting: it is clearly visible in the episode when Jenny informs the retarded dad that he has a child. In the frames of teaching dance, the main character is charming. His story with Jenny is wonderful.
The plot, very kind, about Forrest Gump, with a charge of magic and something essentially American (about the very same, perhaps, "American dream"), over the years looks more and more like what is destined in the future - due to the small length of the history of the nation - to enter the collection of selected national American fairy tales; a wonderful - on modern material - a fairy tale is clearly born before our eyes. The film will give a lot of food for the mind and those who want to think about fate and the meaning of life, an insoluble problem. . .
