A harsh satire on American society in the late 80s. Could you imagine that society is riddled with hypocrisy and lies from top to bottom? Image is everything. Until your hypocrisy becomes the property, and until you are caught lying, you are a highly moral person, a respected member of society. It would seem nothing to be surprised. But the Americans reacted painfully to such satire. Critics of the "Vanity Fire" tore apart and tried to hand over a handful of golden raspberries. And since the movie without shooters and special effects was designed for an intellectual audience, its audience “the Fire” did not find. De Palma loved to shoot something shocking for society. But in this case, he kicked too many sacred cows. This was no longer possible in 1990. The film is certainly not a masterpiece. But you can't call him bad. This is a strong middle man with good satire.
