The story begins with the death of Senator Petronio Paraños. A senator dies while interviewing journalist Magali Santana, who is interested in his affair with a young girl named Arleti. Arlety is an ambitious person who decided to get pregnant by a senator through artificial insemination. Magali comes to interview the senator in the motel room (as was his condition) and witnesses his death. Then begins the investigation into the death of the senator, led by Detective Aristenio Catandouva, whose code name is “Araponga” (translated as “Bird-bell”). Araponga now works for the federal police, but is still a supporter of the “era of the military regime.” At the same time, he tries to convince his superiors that it is necessary to revive the National Information Service, the political police agency of the “war regime era”. Araponge is assisted in the investigation by informant Tuka Maya, a fraudster who gets a job at the same newspaper where Magali works. Although to say that he "helps" Araponge is hardly possible: he rather gives him false information. . .

Chicagoan Frank Gallagher is the proud single dad of six smart, industrious, independent kids, who without him would be... perhaps better off. When Frank's not at the bar spending what little money they have, he's passed out on the floor. But the kids have found ways to grow up in spite of him. They may not be like any family you know, but they make no apologies for being exactly who they are. close
