The author's cycle of essayist and literary critic Lev Anninsky is devoted to the difficult relationship of the last classic of the XIX century - L.N. Tolstoy - and the art of the new XX century - cinema. It was a real “hunt for the lion.” During his lifetime, operators competed with each other to capture him on film. And after the death of Tolstoy, filmmakers from different countries sought to translate his works into the language of the screen.
