I do watch movies from time to time, this time it was Joel Cohen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, 2021, which I was going to see for a long time, but postponed everything because of the heavy theme. So, another adaptation of this famous Shakespeare play, after watching which, I decided that it is still not so much a movie as a play, although shot very stylishly. The film is black and white, the scenery is made in a clear geometric style, the film is shot almost entirely in the pavilions in a format that has not been shot for a long time, this is when the frame is almost square. The choice of actors may surprise some, since Macbeth (Denzel Washington) and Macduff (Cori Hawkins) with his family, as well as some other characters are black, but I don’t think it’s because of the current BLM-theme, rather he chose just actors that he likes, because at the end of the fight between Macbeth and Macduff black, i.e. in this sense they are not opposed. Busy and other good actors - first of all, it is, of course, Francis McDormand, playing Lady Macbeth, who once again proved that she is a good actress, Brendan Gleeson, playing King Duncan, Bertie Carvel, playing Banquo, and others. Interesting is Catherine Hunter, who plays witches, who at a fairly respectable age demonstrates beautiful plastic. It makes no sense to dwell on the content, since everyone probably knows it, here it is worth talking only about the embodiment of this content, it is quite worthy, in my opinion. And Denzel Washington and the rest of the actors play well.Well, of course, I want to note that this is a film for visualists.
