If they gave an Oscar for the series, Gyllenhaal in this series would get it for best actor. Jewelry work.
His character was accused of murdering his mistress (work colleagues) on circumstantial evidence. Hiding his love affair, he, as a prosecutor, began an investigation, from which he was later removed. The investigation was undertaken by his colleague, with whom the suspect was deeply disliked.
The merit of Gyllenhaal is that he plays the role of husband and father of two grown children so truthfully that naturally they and his wife did not recoil from him, did not ostracize, but believed that he loved the victim, tried to break with her, but could not overcome his feelings for her.
