The film, unfortunately, did not make the expected impression on me, although there were many things in it from which it should be expected, it took me to make some effort to still watch it to the end. What is really good about it is the visual range and the play of the leading actors - Juliette Binoche and Lou de Laage. From the play by Luigi Pirandello “The Life I gave you”, put in the basis of this film, there was a piece of the plot, everything else was removed by the writers and director, obviously, as unnecessary, leaving part of the mother’s experience and unwillingness to recognize the death of his son, and the arrival of the girl, however, is fundamentally different than in the play. I was not too lazy to find and read this play, it is a completely different story, in comparison with the film, more verbose, in general, quite clear, more tragic, with a lot of events and a lot of passion. The director removed the words and the entire history of the relationship, giving the viewer the opportunity to apply his imagination and think for himself what really happened. The business, of course, the master’s approach is modern, it did not interfere with me, but what really bothered me is the sound accompaniment in the form of quite a strong noise (wind noise?), I at first even thought that this is a defect of the file, tried several options – no, it is, apparently, also a director’s trick.
