A homeless man can no longer build a house.
He who is alone will not sleep.
He'll be waiting, bowing over the letters.
And in the park with the wind and the leaf.
One, like a restless one, bow down. :
(Rainer Maria Rilke)
Then, when the film is refined and subtle, skillfully crosses pacifist rhetoric and refined stylized melodrama. And here the balance between the true love parable, which, as we understand it, is preserved in forgiveness, and the psychological drama, which lies in the devastation, inner and outer fracture of Ozone, is masterfully preserved. The second spectral transition of the genre from melodrama to detective was perfectly worked out. Anyone who has carefully watched the 1932 film by Ernst Lubitsch “The Cradle of Failure”, in the first half of “Franz” will feel recognizable hooks and touches, but the second half of the film Ozon is completely his creation. And the best thing about the film is Anna, perfectly played by Paula Bier (received the Marcello Mastroiani prize at the Venice Festival).
Great movie. I recommend it. 👏
