It’s not just about a mother who is tired of waiting for the police to find a criminal, coming up with a billboard action, not only about the cruelty and violence that reigns around, but about those sparks of humanity and kindness, if I may say so, that the director seems to be trying to find in each of the characters. These are the letters that the shot sheriff sent out, this is the heroine’s request to her ex-husband not to offend his new girlfriend, this is a glass of juice served by an advertiser to a former cop who threw him out the window, this is the act of this former cop to extract DNA material from a suspicious type, this is the heroine and ex-cop who, I hope, will change their minds after all to kill this type. Again, there are no purely positive characters, even the main character recalls the last conversation with her daughter, or rather, a scandal in which the words, hotly said by both, will be prophetic, perhaps if she gave her a car then, and she would remain alive, i.e. indirectly she herself feels guilty for her death. In general, this is a story about ordinary people from the American hinterland, they also understand the law very peculiarly and sometimes quite do not care about its implementation. And there is nothing written in the blood of the heart, they are simple people, their reactions and actions are quite primitive and they do not reflect.
