In two receptions I watched the Mexican film with Gael García Bernal “Susana, you are killing me”, directed by Roberto Sneider, 2016. I read that the film is based on the very popular book by Jose Augustin “Desert Cities”, published in 1982, in it, as people who read it say, to which I am not a member, shows the clash of feminism and Latin American machismo, so characteristic of many males there, and is shown quite seriously. I won’t read the book for sure, but the film turned out to be quite good for its genre, balancing between melodrama and comedy. The two main characters - an actor not of the first row and an aspiring writer, writing, judging by the quotes, ladies' novels - can not grow up and realize what marriage in general and their marriage in particular, such infantils. He starred in all sorts of TV shows and commercials ("to feed his family"), she is trying to write her first novel. He seems to love his wife, which does not prevent him from flirting on the set with the makeup girl and sleeping with her, dreaming of ever hearing from his wife the cherished words. One day, he discovers that his wife has left him. With all his passion, he pursues it.
