But first of all, I want to say that there is a big difference with the original version of the film. It's a pity it's not shown how the Joker became the Joker, if that's the way it is. It is a pity that Harvey in the image of two-faced showed himself only from the worst side. I still remember Harvey's apartment in the original movie. Half white, half red, which indicates his different character. Unfortunately, this is not the case here, although in my opinion there is very little time devoted to Two-Face here, literally half an hour. But the upside is that it shows the story of how Harvey Dent became Harvey Two-Face, and it's exciting. Well, perhaps all the quite minor shortcomings of this film, which any person, like me, can bring to the merits of this film.
There are still a lot of interesting moments in the script. Like how the Joker was put in jail, or the same choice of who to save, a city defender, or an ex-girlfriend. Although there are many, so to speak, too fantastic moments in the film. For example, let’s talk about two trains. In real life, they would blow each other up in seconds. Or the story of a man, I won’t name him, who had to be killed in one hour to avoid blowing up the hospital, but no one was in a hurry to do it, when in real life he would have been stabbed in the same second. Does Nolan want to show that the world is not as cruel on the one hand and too cruel on the other? I really liked the ending of the film. It ended very unexpectedly for me. But it largely does not give a chance to continue, although there are already rumors that they are allegedly preparing to shoot the third part. Let's see.
In the cast you can single out everything, but one person especially. And this is Heath Ledger. In short, this is, in my opinion, the best male role of the second plan. But why not the first one? On screen, he eclipsed everyone. And I think he was given more screen time than Batman. It is like a role of the second plan, smoothly passing into the role of the first plan. A great schizophrenic. That he is schizophrenic is clearly shown by the fact that he tells two completely different stories about where he got these scars. Well, his cool dialogue is not a miracle. That's the maniac's voice. Here, probably, only Anthony Hopkins in “Silence of the Lambs” managed to play a maniac better, as gestures, speech, and behavior, too, but there is still the role of the first plan, and here we are talking about the second. Well, his phrases of course: "Why are you so serious?", "What doesn't kill you makes you weirder," "Come on, come on, give-and-take-take," this last one I especially like. Compared to him, all the actors fade, so I won’t say a word about them.
Nolan managed to combine two different stories into one film. In my opinion, the best science fiction film, the best film of 2008, and in general one of my favorite films.
