Interesting idea, which, unfortunately, was not disclosed even a quarter. There are films of category B, which, even in the absence of a good budget, can attract attention with good acting, interesting plot twists, or at least a good and consistent narrative. In the case of "Letters of Happiness," all these components are missing. Firstly, there are too many characters who are not clear how they are related to each other and are completely undisclosed. This, in principle, is acceptable for a slasher, if they were used as cannon fodder. But that doesn’t happen: I only counted 7 murders in the entire film. Also, the filmmakers severely ignored the concept of the last girl, which for fans of slashers is an integral part of the genre. In the film, it is not clear whether the main characters exist or not. All characters are perceived as a single human mass. Second, murder scenes. What people watch slashers for is inventive, sophisticated murder scenes. In the film “Letter of Happiness”, a rather brutal concept of murder using chains was chosen. And this concept was perfectly worked out on the first scene of the film and on the murder in the gym, but the authors did not have enough imagination (and, most likely, budget). You could make a candy. The other thing is, there weren't enough beautiful effects for deaths. Most of what is happening is behind the scenes. It would have worked if the movie had been released in the '80s, but in 2009, when the audience had already seen Saw, it looked like a puncture. Third, there is a complete lack of logic. Throughout the story, the plot leaves more and more questions, which in the third act are somehow explained by flashbacks. But after them, you have a feeling of patching on old jeans: they say, until it comes down, and then throw it away. And to throw out (or turn off) the movie really want when comes the most delusional explanation of what is happening. A cult of technology-fighters that kills teenagers so people give up technology? Are you serious? If that doesn’t seem like enough, the cult has been around for 200 years. I wonder why they killed before? For using electricity? For driving a car? It is definitely not worth watching the movie. I hope that the subject of chains, which attracted me so much, will be revealed in some other horror film.
