Armed with a portable camera, Johana Haber Ile, the filmmaker of People of Words, traveled to the mountainous regions of southern Yemen to record an ancient Yemeni tradition: a gathering of men discussing and reflecting on current problems, the economy, social conditions and local news, and sharing them with each other through poetry. This tradition has been preserved since time immemorial, and despite the widespread spread of scientific and technological progress, it has not been forgotten here
