The famous French film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, cameraman Claude Lelouch was born on October 30, 1937 in Paris. His career began at the age of 8, when his father handed him a camera. The boy carried it with him everywhere, sometimes irritating his teachers and friends because they unwittingly acted as heroes in his paintings. Claude loved watching people transform. So, his teacher, who looked like a scary old maid with faded eyes, on the film turned out quite different, sad and touching.
The boy’s professional growth was handled by his father’s friend. He was an operator and often gave very good advice. As a result, Claude edited the film at the age of 14 and sent it to the Cannes Festival. And luck smiled at him: he won the prize for best film debut. At the age of 16, he worked in television, doing documentaries and commercials.
His first full-length picture “The Human Essence”, published in 1961, did not particularly interest viewers. In 1966, Claude Lelouch made the film “Man and Woman”, which brought him fame not only in his native country, but also far beyond its borders. A series of paintings followed:
"Edith and Marseille" .
"Lumiere and Company" .
"The courage to love" .
In his films, he was a director, screenwriter, cameraman, and producer. This was not due to vanity, but to his irrepressible interest in everything that surrounds him.
In 2003, he made an autobiographical film, “The Flavor of Destiny”, where he told about his life and the people who surrounded him. And he considered himself a pamper because he was lucky to meet interesting personalities.
His personal life was not very successful. While making the film "Live to Live," he fell in love with Ani Girardot. The girl was married, but he was unsuccessful (husband abused alcohol), so she accepted the courtship of the new gentleman, but after the filming was completed, she did not want to continue the meeting.
