Director and writer Andrew Bergman was born on February 20, 1945 in Queens (New York, USA) in the family of a journalist. He graduated from Harper College in New York and the University of Wisconsin with a degree in history. After receiving his doctorate in 1970, Bergman studied film history and sociology, publishing a 1971 study of the Great Depression-era films We're In the Money. He then worked for United Artists in public relations. Bergman’s film career began after he, along with Richard Pryor and Mel Brooks, wrote the screenplay for Shining Saddles (1974). His directorial debut took place in 1981 with the film So Beautiful. Success was enjoyed by Michael Ritchie’s film “Fletch”, for which he wrote the script, and the title role in this film was performed by Chevy Chase. The second film directed by Andrew Bergman was Novichok (1990), which starred such famous actors as Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick. As a director or screenwriter, he was also involved in the creation of comedies starring Nicholas Cage’s Honeymoon in Las Vegas and Lucky Chance. Contradictory reviews were awarded to the drama Striptease, in which the main role was played by Demi Moore. In addition, Andrew Bergman created a production company that produces family films ("White Fang") and comedies ("Little Big League"), as well as several detective novels.
