Grigory Chukhray was born on May 23, 1921. After the war in 1946, Gregory entered the All-Union Institute of Cinematography at the director's faculty.
After graduating from the institute in 1953, he received an offer to stay at Mosfilm. But Chukhrai decides to go to Ukraine and receives a referral to work at the Kiev studio of feature films. Grigory Chukhray was born on May 23, 1921. After the war in 1946, Gregory entered the All-Union Institute of Cinematography at the director's faculty.
After graduating from the institute in 1953, he received an offer to stay at Mosfilm. But Chukhrai decides to go to Ukraine and receives a referral to work at the Kiev studio of feature films. There he becomes assistant and second director.
In 1955, thanks to M.I. Romm and I.A. Pyriev, Grigory was transferred to Mosfilm. There he is engaged in the creation of his own independent film based on the work of B. Lavrenov “Forty-first”. The director will no longer leave Mosfilm.
After this picture, films were made.
"The Ballad of a Soldier" in 1959 and
Clean skies" in 1961. They can be called masterpieces of national cinema. The paintings received a huge number of awards and awards, were awarded positive reviews by critics.
The next works of the director were the films “There Was an Old Man with an Old Woman” in 1964, “Memory” in 1970, two film series.
Shake In 1977. The picture “Life is beautiful” was shot together with the company “Quatro forged” in 1980. In 1984, a screenplay and film called I'll Teach You to Dream was created. Grigory worked together with Y. Shvyrev and M. Volodsky.
For more than twenty years in a row, Grigory Chukhray was a member of the art council of the Mosfilm film studio. He became a member of the party committee twice.
Grigory Chukhrai was recognized as People's Artist of the USSR in 1981. He has a huge number of awards for feats committed during the Great Patriotic War.
Chukhrai had a life position, which is well expressed in his words: “What a happiness it is to think about the interests of your country, and not about your personal interests.”
Grigory Chukhray died on October 29, 2001 in Moscow.
