He was born on November 8, 1929 in Privolzhsk, Ivanovo region. His father worked as a director of agricultural engineering, and his mother was an agronomist. In 1951, after graduating from the School-Studio at the Moscow Art Theater, Oleg Borisov began to play in the troupe of the Kiev Russian Drama Theater named after Lesya Ukrainka.
In 1964, the actor moved to the Leningrad Bolshoi Drama Theater named after Gorky. He brilliantly embodied on the stage images: Grigory Melekhov in “The Quiet Don” according to Sholokhov, Prince Harry in “King Henry IV” by Shakespeare, Siply in “Optimistic tragedy” by Vishnevsky.
