Bruce Martyn Payne was born on November 22, 1960 in London and was the youngest of three children. German and Japanese films had a tremendous impact on Bruce. After his spinal fracture, he had nothing more to do than watch TV. Surgeons saved his spine, but for more than a year after the operation he had to lie in bed. “I had a lot to learn,” Bruce said. However, he did not add that the list of necessary knowledge should include jumping from an aircraft such as those he made during preparation for the shooting of Passenger, 57.
Passion for acting made him a local "hare" at the film studio - Bruce could freely go to any shooting, just to be on the set for a couple of seconds. With little experience, he entered the Royal Academy of Drama, where he spent three years honing natural talents.
North America was unaware of Bruce’s existence until he appeared in Passenger 57 in 1992. By then he had already had a solid acting reputation at home, in England, and was now taking on the Wild West. He didn’t have to convince anyone of his talent. Everybody saw it on the screen.
