Thomas Griffin Dunn was born on June 8, 1955 in New York City, where he spent his childhood. The boy’s father was a writer and his uncle a playwright, so Griffin knew at an early age that he would follow in the family’s footsteps and become an actor.
After graduation, the boy began to work in the theater Neighborhood, where he played in many productions. One of his mentors in the theater was Utah Hagen, thanks to whom the young actor in 1975 made his debut on the big screen in the film The Other Side of the Mountain.
After a successful debut, the young actor began to be invited to episodic roles in such films as Upside Down and Fan. However, they did not bring the actor popularity.
The first recognition of the audience and critics to the aspiring actor brought the role of Jack Goodman in the film American Werewolf in London, directed by John Landis. The picture was released on the big screens in 1981, and the main roles in it were performed by David Knowton and Jenny Egatter.
A year later, Dunn made his debut as a producer with the film Baby, It's You. To create this picture, he opened his own company Double Play Productions.
Griffin's next films were Cowardice, After Closing, and
"Me and her." The last picture almost ruined the career of the actor, because of the role of not quite adequate architect.
In 1987, Dunn's career was again threatened by the highly unsuccessful comedy Who's That Girl? After that, the actor returned to the shooting only a few years later. During this time, Dunn produced such films as “From Empty to Empty”, “My Girlfriend” and “The Return”.
