Joe Don Baker was born on February 12, 1936. Baker received his education at North Texas College and in the acting studio. His somewhat rough appearance, coupled with a southern accent, was a holistic acting image, most successfully embodied on the screen in Sam Peckinpah’s film “Junior Bonner” (1972), where the main role was played by Steve Mac-Queen. Baker made his film debut in the 1961 film Neverly a Nasty Accident. Then the actor starred in more than fifty films, however, almost always in second roles.
